K-pop star Lee Young Ji has been hospitalized following a sudden decline in her health, causing concern among fans and prompting the cancellation of her scheduled activities.
The 22-year-old singer and rapper recently opened up about her struggles through social media and direct communication with fans. In one of the conversations with fans on April 20, Young Ji was asked about her current health condition.
"I've seriously been really sick for the first time in a while, so I had to cancel all my schedules and have been resting for days. Just when I think I'm getting better, I get sick again—it's driving me crazy... What is going on?" she said.
She later posted a photo from the hospital, showing herself receiving an IV drip. She did not provide more information about her condition.
This is not the first time Lee Young Ji has spoken about her health issues. On October 17 of the previous year, she posted on Instagram, warning fans to be careful of colds and sharing that she had been feeling extremely unwell for several days. The post included a photo of her holding her pet cat, with tissues in her nose and her eyes closed tightly.
Earlier in March, Lee Young Ji also reported suffering from a back injury. She explained that she had sprained her back while washing up in the morning and was unable to move due to the pain.
Young Ji's recent health struggles come after she had just received the Korean PD Award and is set to appear in the upcoming season of the popular variety show "Earth Arcade 3."
The 22-year-old rose to fame after becoming the youngest and first female winner of "High School Rapper 3" in 2019. She further cemented her reputation by winning "Show Me the Money 11," making her the only artist to win both major Korean rap competitions.
