"Kpop Demon Hunters" star Arden Cho is officially returning to the world of K-pop, this time stepping into darker territory with the upcoming horror-thriller "Perfect Girl."
The film will also feature K-pop idol Jeon Somi in her first-ever movie role, alongside actress Adeline Rudolph. Industry insiders are already dubbing the project "Scream meets Black Swan," teasing a chilling narrative set within the ultra-competitive world of idol trainees.
A Twisted Take on K-Pop Trainee Life
"Perfect Girl" centers on a "brand new K-Pop super group preparing to be launched to the world at a massive concert," IMDB says.
According to the official premise, the story follows a group of young women vying for only four spots in a soon-to-debut supergroup. With the final cut just one week away, the tension skyrockets - until the arrival of a mysterious new trainee. Soon, girls begin to disappear and are attacked one by one. The question remains: who is behind the bloodshed, and who will survive long enough to make the final lineup?
Music Meets Horror
"Perfect Girl" promises a unique blend of K-pop and cinema, featuring six original songs crafted exclusively for the movie. Behind the camera is director Hong Won-ki ("Zombie Hunters"), working from a script by Lynn Q. Yu. Production is backed by Badlands, Thunder Road Productions (the team behind "John Wick"), and Cho herself.
Producer Scott Strauss of Badlands expressed enthusiasm for Jeon Somi's big-screen debut saying, "We are so excited Jeon Somi is making her film debut in 'Perfect Girl.' She is a one-of-a-kind talent whose chemistry with Arden and Adeline is off the charts. The three will elevate our chills, thrills, and drama and collaborate with Director Hong to ensure an authentic portrayal of Korean culture and the world of K-pop."
In an interview with Deadline, Cho said: "The whole mystery will be, who is our villain. That's kind of the fun of it. You get to see these beautiful, talented, and complex characters and we're not going to know who the villain is or who we should think it is. The script is a fabulous adventure and we hope the audience will be on the edge of their seats wondering."
Stars Balancing Music and Film
The casting comes during a pivotal year for both leads. Somi, signed under Teddy Park's THEBLACKLABEL, recently released her latest EP "Chaotic & Confused" in August, featuring viral hits "EXTRA" and "CLOSER". Meanwhile, Arden Cho continues to ride the success of "Kpop Demon Hunters" and her soundtrack collaboration with Cha Eun-woo on the song "FREE" for Netflix.
Production Timeline
Filming for "Perfect Girl" begins October 27, 2025, in Asia. Additional casting is currently underway, with more updates expected in the coming months.
