Lee Seo Yeon, formerly a member of the girl group fromis_9, is set to make her solo debut under the hip-hop and R&B label H1GHR MUSIC this November.
The label officially announced the star's upcoming solo album release and has expressed full support for her artistic activities moving forward. Lee Seo Yeon will launch her solo career under the stage name Y:SY after about 11 months of rest and preparation since leaving fromis_9's previous agency, PLEDIS Entertainment, at the end of last year.
H1GHR MUSIC revealed Lee Seo Yeon's new logo and photos, showcasing her with a chic, short hairstyle, aimed at presenting a fresh and mature image. This represents a new artistic direction for Lee, who has a background as the main dancer and lead vocalist of fromis_9. During her time with the group, Lee Seo Yeon was recognized for her strong vocal skills, rap abilities, and dance performances. She also demonstrated her musical creativity by composing songs and directing concert stages.
Lee Seo Yeon's decision to join H1GHR MUSIC aligns her with a label known for specializing in genre-based music like hip-hop and R&B. The label's roster includes prominent artists such as pH-1 and Big Naughty. H1GHR MUSIC earned acclaim in the Korean music industry, notably winning the "Label/Crew of the Year" award at the 2021 Korean Hip-hop Awards, highlighting its influence and credibility.

Born on January 22, 2000, in Seoul and raised in Incheon, Lee Seo Yeon began her training career early, joining YG Entertainment as a trainee at just 10 years old. She appeared briefly in GD & TOP's music video "Knock Out" in 2011 and was part of YG's pre-debut project "Future 2NE1" before leaving the company and eventually entering Idol School in 2017. Finishing in seventh place, she debuted with fromis_9 in January 2018. Throughout her time in the group, she was known for her versatility, excelling in singing, dancing, and rapping, and contributed creatively by co-writing tracks like "My Night Routine" and "Starry Night."
Lee Seo Yeon has also shown herself to be an all-around artist with skills extending beyond performance to songwriting and stage directing. She took breaks during her group activities due to health and injury, but returned strong, gaining acclaim for her vocal performances and stage presence. After her exclusive contract with Pledis expired at the end of 2024, she chose not to renew and parted ways with fromis_9, who continued under a new label without her.
In 2024, she released her first solo digital single, "I Guess It's Our Last Spring," and contributed to the OST of the web drama "Our Secret Diary." Collaborations like the 2025 single "Loyal Girl," with Ejel, have helped establish her identity as a solo artist ahead of her upcoming album. Fans anticipate Lee Seo Yeon to leverage her broad musical talents and distinctive style in this new chapter with H1GHR MUSIC, preparing to make a strong impact in the solo music scene.
