Pacquiao Vs Mayweather Fight Update – Floyd Mayweather Sr Says Pacman ‘Not Ready’ To Fight His Son; Bob Arum Responds ‘Stop Posturing And Get It Done’

Despite heaping unexpected praise for his masterful victory, Floyd Mayweather Sr, father of 'Money' Mayweather says Manny Pacquiao is not ready to fight his son.

In comments shared to proboxinginsider.com: "Manny ain't ready for that [fighting Mayweather]... Floyd would do him the same way he [Pacquiao] did Rios."

Has Pacquiao redeemed himself with his victory: "I don't call that redeeming yourself. I don't think that's gonna redeem you to justify fighting someone like Floyd. Maybe he could do something like that to fight someone like [Canelo] Alvarez or [Robert] Guerrero. If he whoops one of them, then it's time to get it on. That's what he better do. If he wants to have any chance [of getting Floyd], he better whoop one of them."

However, Bob Arum challenges Mayweather's pompous declarations. The promoter of Top Rank would rather raise the question of Pacquiao's worthiness against Mayweather on the venue where it does matter - the boxing ring.

He reiterated that if both sides really want the fight to happen, a deal can always be made. In comments to CNN World Sport, they actually have a precedent:

"While Manny fights on HBO and HBO pay-per-view and Floyd fights on Showtime and Showtime pay-per-view, there is a precedent for both networks to come together and put on big event.

"They did it when heavyweight Mike Tyson, who was a Showtime fighter, fought Lennox Lewis, who was an HBO fighter, a number of years ago. That was a hugely successful event and set a record for pay-per-view sales in the US.

"We can't keep posturing,. If people want to make a deal and put aside egos and making statements to the press -- who was right, who was wrong -- and really sincerely want something to happen it generally gets done.

"And it is my hope that's what will happen; when and if both sides sit down to discuss seriously an event the sports world is crying out for."

For all boxing fans, this is really all that matters. Fans don't want to read blogs and listen to arrogant statements. They want to watch a fight.
