CES 2014 Rumors: Chinese Tech Co. Huawei Expected To Make A Splash, T-Mobile To Reveal Uncarrier 4.0, Sony Revealing Galaxy Gear Competition

CES 2014 rumors: January 7 kicks-off the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas and if last year is any measure, it’s expected that more than 150,000 people will be coming in and out of the show for the latest in major consumer electronics. Below are three CES rumors provided by DigitalTrends.com

Huawei will make a splash in CES

According to Digital Trends, the Chinese tech company looks like it will have a busy CES ahead. Huawei may replace the big screen Ascend Mate with the equally large Ascend Mate 2. The screen may stay the same at 6.1-inches with a 720p resolution, but the camera of the handset may have 13 megapixels. Under the hood, the processor of the Huawei unit maybe at 1.6GHz. Images leaked with Engadget China show that the unit maybe slimmer than its predecessor.

The company may also release a device called the PhoPad, the specs of which has not been disclosed with the only detail being is that the name has been registered by Huawei.

There has also been talk that Huawei may release a Windows Phone device during CES. The unit is dubbed as the Huawei W3 and previous look reveal that it may have a metal chassis, a 4.5-inch screen and an 8-megapixel camera. The company may also reveal its first wearable technology products during the show.

On a Facebook Page featuring Peter Fonda with the words “more speed is coming to Vegas,” it’s rumored that Huawei may launched the Honor 4 smartphone, which features an eight-core processor.

T-Mobile to reveal Uncarrier 4.0

T-Mobile CEO John Legere is expected to discuss the fourth stage of the company’s “Uncarrier” strategy at CES this year, reports DigitalTrends.com. Speculations as to what he may discuss include early termination fees and smoothing the path for subscribers from other networks to join T-Mobile.

Sony to reveal Xperia Z1 Mini and Galaxy Gear competition

The Japanese tech giant’s CEO, Kazuo Hirai, is one of the CES’s Tech Titans who’s given a stage this year to make a keynote address. Many are expecting the Sony Xperia Z1 Mini version, known as Z1f in Japan and expected to be called Z1s once launched, to make its debut at the CES.

The latest news on the so-called compact version of the Sony Xperia flagship is that it was spotted at an FCC filing. On another FCC filing, Sony looks like it will be releasing its very own version of a Galaxy Gear competitor or its own smartwatch device. According to Digital Trends, the device will have NFC and Bluetooth capability and is described as a “Bluetooth Wrist Notifier.”
