An update of the Aaron Hernandez murder case reveals that the girlfriend of the former New England Patriot player will petition the court to dismiss the perjury charge against her in relation to the murder case the former tight end is facing.

In a report by CBS News, Shayanna Jenkins through her lawyer, Janice Bassil, said that there's no evidence that would prove she lied under oath.

Aaron Hernandez is in the middle of a long battle to clear his name after he was detained in June of 2013 following the death of football athlete Odin Lloyd who was found just a mile away from the residence of the accused in North Attleborough, Mass. Lloyd at the time of his death was dating the sister of Jenkins.

Jenkins, who has a one-year-old daughter with Hernandez, remains "free on personal recognizance" after pleading not guilty to one count of perjury before the grand jury. Prosecutors accused Jenkins of deliberately providing false testimonies despite being under oath.

According to an update of the Aaron Hernandez murder case by CBS News,  one of the contentious issues was that Jenkins reportedly lied about throwing away a box from the basement of their home in compliance with Hernandez' request.

Curiously enough, since Hernandez was detained for the murder case, three people with close connections to him have already died. First there was Thaddeus Singleton III who was killed in a crash in Farmington, Connecticut. Singleton was married to Hernandez' cousin and identified by the police as a potential witness against the football star.

Hernandez' uncle, Robert J. Valentine, was under the influence of drugs and alcohol when he crashed his moped and slammed his head onto the pavement in August last year.

Meanwhile, Tabitha Perry, 27, died in December last year while visiting a friend in Southington.  Police did not believe that his death was suspicious to warrant further investigation. Perry actually had a child with Singleton and was at the car with him during the crash.
