Prince Harry’s Girlfriend Cressida Bonas’ Stepfather Found Dead: Will Royal Attend The Funeral?

Prince Harry's girlfriend Cressida Bonas' stepfather was found dead in Salisbury, England on January 17, and Cressida Bonas' stepfather is believed to have committed suicide. Will Prince Harry attend the funeral with his girlfriend?

According to E! News, 76-year-old Christopher Shaw, who was married to Cressida Bonas' mother Lady Mary-Gaye Curzon from 1996 to 2000, was found dead when police responded to reports of "the sudden death of a man."

There appeared to be "no suspicious circumstances" surrounding Shaw's death, police told E! News in a statement.

Cressida Bonas' stepfather had been suffering from long-term health problems, including chronic kidney disease, and was told he had 18 months to live, UsMagazine.com reports.

The Sun reports that Shaw may have committed suicide with an overdose of pills. The coroner is still awaiting the results of the toxicology tests.

Prince Harry's office at Kensington Palace declined to make any comment, The Daily Beast reports. Prince Harry has been dating his girlfriend Cressida for almost two years - will he attend her stepfather's funeral?

The Daily Beast speculates that the royal may be afraid that his presence at the funeral would create "a media circus," though he probably wants to support his girlfriend during this difficult time.

According to E! News, Cressida, now 24, was only 11 when her mother and Mr. Shaw divorced, but he was reportedly a "a massive part of her life."

"He was regarded by Cressida as a father figure," a friend of Cressy's told the Daily Beast. "He was married to her mum for the formative years of her childhood. She will be devastated by this news."

Hopefully our favorite redheaded royal will be there to comfort Cressida as she mourns her loss.
