Samsung Galaxy S5 Release Date Tipped On February 23rd, Allegedly Retains Price, Boasts 2K Display, 3GB RAM, Fingerprint Scanner

With the MWC just around the corner, we've been hearing a lot of rumors about the impending Samsung Galaxy S5 release date. Now, another one claims that the device would be announced at a separate Samsung event just before the MWC in Barcelona.

According to a report from GSM Arena, Mobile Review's Eldar Murtazin tweeted an alleged release date for the upcoming Galaxy S flagship. In case you are thinking this is just another unsupported claim, Murtazin is just one of the few people who have accurately predicted the launch of the Galaxy S4 last year.

In addition to the announcement date, Murtazin also mentioned other details such as pricing, specs and features. If what he says is true, then the Galaxy S5 would cost around the price tag of the Galaxy S4 when it launched last year, which is not a problem at all.

Meanwhile, some of the Galaxy S5 specs which we have read for the past few months include a 2K (2560 x 1440) resolution, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 chipset, 3GB of RAM, a 16MP camera, a fingerprint sensor, 3,000mAh of battery and Android 4.4 KitKat out of the box.

Other rumored features include a metal frame, water and dirt resistance, and a new and improved version of Samsung's TouchWiz UI.

As February approaches, we will see whether Murtazin is able to keep his reputation as an accurate tipster.
