A  ghost ship full of cannibalistic rats may be headed towards Great Britain. Or the ghost ship may have already gone under, taking the rats with it. Speculation that a ghost ship that got away from the Canadian Coast Guard and is now headed to the British coast has captured the media's imagination. Coastguards, satellite providers and salvage hunters been looking for the ghost ship for over a year.

Maritime analyst Richard Hurley claims the ghost ship has probably already sunk. So does the Irish Coast Guard. A spokesman for the Irish Coast Guard told the Star, "The ship has sunk.  ... It's a good exaggeration. It was berthed in Canada for over a year and there were reports while it was in Canada that it was infested by rats. There is an urban myth that when a ship is headed east and has rats on board, they eat themselves."

Ghost Ship Lyobov Orlova, named for the first lady of Russian film, is on its way to Great Britain and the ghost ship's hull is full of cannibal rats. Salvage experts warn that the Lyobov Orlova could be drifting towards Britain after being lost at sea for a year.

Experts are afraid that storms have driven the the Russian ghost ship Lyobov Orlova towards land after Canadian tow ship lost it last year.

The 40-year-old liner ghost ship Lyubov Orlova has been missing in the North Atlantic since last January. Experts fear high winds have driven it worryingly close to the shore of England. The abandoned boat, Lyobov Orlova, is likely to have hundreds of diseased rats on board. They have had nothing but each other for food, making them cannibalistic. The Lyobov Orlova ghost ship was cut adrift while it was being towed to the Dominican Republic.

The Lyubov Orlova cruise liner has been floating around the Atlantic Ocean since last January. Salvage experts believe that storms could push it thousands of miles towards England. Satellites located a mystery blip that could be the ghost ship. Analysts said the blip was the same size of a ship. The blip was found off the coast of Scotland. So far search aircraft have not been able to locate it.

The Lyobov Orlova is 4,250 tons. It was named after a Russian actress. The ghost ship was built in Yugoslavia in 1976. Newfoundland, Canada, harbor authorities seized the liner after its owners ran into money troubles. Their crew had not been paid for months. Authorities tried to sell the ship to the Dominican Republic for scrap. The Lyobov Orlova is - valued at more than £600,000.

The Lyobov Orlova was set adrift in January 2013 while it was being towed from Canada to the Dominican Republic and the line snapped. The Lyobov Orlova was last spotted in February near Ireland. In March, the Canadian Coast Guard registered a signal from the Lyubov Orlova about 800 miles off the coast of Newfoundland.

Pim de Rhoodes, a Belgian salvage hunter told the Sun newspaper "She is floating around out there somewhere. There will be a lot of rats and they eat each other. If I get aboard I'll have to lace everywhere with poison."
