These two teams met in the opener of the preliminary rounds, with the Swiss winning 1-0. Latvia has shown they can get the puck in the back of the net, but Switzerland has yet to score more than a goal in any game. Despite Latvia being ranked 11th, they know this is no walk in the park and could be tougher than the opening game the two had.

"The gap is closing," Minnesota Wild forward Nino Niederreiter told the IIHF website. "There are no easy games out there anymore."

After losing 1-0 to the Swiss, Latvia lost 4-2 against the Czech Republic, but hung with them most of the way. Then they lost 5-3 against the top seed overall in Sweden. They were able to hang with them, which has given them a different mindset on the rest of the Olympics.

"This was my first Olympics and I kind of felt that we would be overpowered," forward Janus Sprukts, who scored a power-play goal Saturday, told the IIHF website. "But now I think we can play with any team. We are very happy we've played evenly with all our opponents and will be looking ahead confidently."
