Aaron Hernandez Murder Case Update: Tight End Gets In Jailhouse Fight With Helpless Inmate? Former New England Patriots Player Now In Isolation For 30 Days

Aaron Hernandez, the former tight end of New England Patriots who was incarcerated for a murder charge, got into a jailhouse fight with a helpless inmate in cuffs. As punishment, he will remain in isolation for 30 days, only getting one hour of time out of his cell each day, a local report said.

Aaron Hernandez was transferred to a more restricted cell of the Bristol County House of Corrections in Darmouth, NECN.com said quoting the Bristol County Sheriff's Office in Massachusetts.

The fight was brief, only lasting about a minute but the reports of the injuries sustained by the unidentified inmate varied-one from not so serious and one from TMZ where Aaron Hernandez "beat the crap out of the guy."

The other inmate, the gossip website said, was supposedly talking trash which angered Aaron Hernandez who was upset at that time. It wasn't clear how the two were able spend time together in the common area where only one inmate is allowed at a time, contrary to the policy of the jailhouse.

Aaron Hernandez should have been in waist chains and leg irons whenever he is let out of his cell according to security protocol, just like the injured inmate, but he was allowed to walk without handcuffs at times, NECN.com added.

Bristol Country Sherriff Tom Hodgson told CNN: "I'm not happy that there may have been a breakdown in our system, in our protocols. When we have failures, the first thing we look at and I look at is, number one, how did this happen? And number two, how do we make sure this doesn't happen again?"

Aaron Hernandez, 24, is being detained while awaiting decision on the first-degree murder and weapons charge in relation to the killing of his friend Odin Lloyd last year. The athlete pleaded not guilty to the charge.
