The beloved creator of 'My Big Fat Greek Wedding', Nia Vardalos, has written the script for the movie's sequel, states the Hollywood Reporter. Not only that, she will be reprising her role as the clumsy, but oh-so lovable Greek-American woman. Her tall, handsome and well-meaning Ian Miller will of course be played by John Corbett.

Nia Vardalos revealed that the sequel will delve into a family secret and celebrate a bigger and fatter wedding, which reunites all the Greek aunts, uncles, crazy cousins and deranged grandparents.

"Now that I'm experiencing motherhood, I'm ready to write the next chapter of my family story," the 51-year-old writer, actress, comedy extraordinaire said on the press release. "Of course a few jaded folks in the press corps will claim I ran out of money or just want to kiss John Corbett again. One of these things is true."

In 2002, 'My Big Fat Greek Wedding' was the new millennium's sleeper hit, grossing $241 million at the domestic box office. It became the highest-grossing rom-com and the most successful indie movie of the time. It also inspired a CBS sitcom spin-off 'My Big Fat Greek Life'.

The release date for the film has yet been decided, but we can safely say that with producers like Tom Hanks behind on his project, that 'My Big Fat Greek Wedding' sequel is guaranteed to be another massive hit!
