Anderson Silva Leg Break Update: Started Training For 2015 But Broken Leg Recovery Is His Next Big Fight [VIDEO]

Anderson Silva is back! At least in his training cage. The fighter, often referred to as the Spider, gave a video update on his Instagram page to show that he is alive and kicking. After a green light from his doctors to start training, Anderson Silva is back to throwing punches and delivering low kicks that devastated his shin bone. But his next big fight is the fight to full recovery. Considering his age, the 40-year-old fighter faces a long road to gain back his fitness, prowess and passion for MMA.

Anderson Silva pulled out of a fight against middleweight champ Chris Weidman after receiving a low kick that snapped his tibia and fibula at once. He was at once admitted to the hospital for a surgery and a metal rod was inserted into his leg to quicken the healing process.

The Spider is largely touted as once-in-a-lifetime fighter. According to Bleacher Report, he defined what it means to be great in MMA. The tenure of Anderson Silva left a big footprint in MMA history. The writer said, "Normally the story is that the candle that burns twice as bright burns half as long, but Silva has burned three times as bright for twice as long."

But with an injury as major as this, it's not just physical recovery that may take time. It's also the mental rejuvenation that needs to happen. Anderson Silva has held his ground in the cage for so long that he may be too exhausted to even feel passionate about MMA.

As he famously said, "I want to do all [eight fights left in the contract] but I don't know that I will be in the mood to do this."

Even if he recovers and jumps into the cage, his comeback may be dull compared to his illustrious record. He would be facing many young blood in fights, and in a sport that is as combative as MMA, age does show.

Chris Weidman may not be as good of a fighter as Anderson Silva, but he is younger. And it's age that sometimes rule MMA.
