Maria Sharapova Shifts From Tennis Darling To Pro Entrepreneur? Athlete Signs As Face Of Avon Fragrance After Expanding Candy Business

Maria Sharapova proves her versatility after being hailed as the new face of Avon Fragrance's new brand, Luck. Aside from signing a deal with the cosmetic giant, the Russian athlete recently put up a pop-up shop for her candy business, Sugarpova, at the Wimbledon Village.

Patricia Perez-Ayala, chief marketing officer of Avon, said in a statement that Sharapova's the perfect advocate for the perfume line because she exudes "happiness and a feeling of being on top of the world."

"As one of the top-ranked tennis players worldwide, and a sophisticated natural beauty, Maria perfectly captures this sense of energy and possibility," she added.

Maria Sharapova is honored to represent the perfume: "My hope is that Luck brings women and men confidence, the feeling of sophistication, and luxury as well as reminding them that you can have it all, and that possibilities are endless."

"It's always been incredibly fortunate to have luck on my side, that's why I'm so excited to be representing Avon Luck, a fragrance that I believe will always be by my side," explained the tennis darling about her perfume which will be launched in Europe in September. Countries in North America and Asia-Pacific will have respective launches in October and November.

Recently, Maria Sharapova has likewise opened a branch of Sugarpova in Wimbledon to commemorate the upcoming Grand Slam tournament. The candy lounge will only be opened until July 6.

Apart from carrying Sharapova's trademark brands, the shop also has a juice bar and photo booth. It likewise offers free internet access which enables shoppers to share their photos inside the shop in a quick manner.

"Maria wanted to create the first ever candy lounge, where people can come to enjoy not only to relax, treat themselves, and share the fun on social media," reported London Pop Ups.
