While Ecuador only needs to match Switzerland's results to advance, Switzerland will have a much easier time scoring against Honduras to clinch the passage to the round of 16. If Switzerland wins against Honduras, especially if they score a few goals against them, the European nation's odds of advancing increases.  

France defeated its European neighbor 5-2, but the past is the past. If Switzerland focuses on winning against Honduras (which is very likely) and hope that Ecuador doesn't get around the French defence, the landlocked nation will secure a passage into the round of 16. The odds are in their favor.
