Lee Hyori Asks Fans To Stop Treating Her Home Like A Tourist Attraction

Idols are not zoo animals.

Lee Hyori recently had to tell off fans who were visiting Jeju Island, where she and her husband Lee Sang Soon live. Tourists had started to visit the house, trying to view it like they would any other tourist attraction on South Korea's biggest island.

The singer Tweeted to messages directed at fans on June 29, asking the tourists to leave her house alone.

"Dear Jeju visitors. I'm sorry, but my house is not a tourist attraction. My family is severely distressed due to the doorbell and alarm going off dally day and night. You may be curious, but please be understanding."

The second Tweet promised to her fans that Lee Hyori will post more pictures on her blog. She also added that trees hide her home from sight, so tourists will hardly be able to even see the house when they do come.

The couple moved to Jeju Island after getting married last September. A few months after moving to the island, Lee Hyori started a blog to document her married life. The blog has become incredibly popular, so fans probably hoped to see firsthand what Lee Hyori and Lee Sang Soon's home looks like.

This is the latest in overeager fan activities, and the second recent case directed at an idol from the 1990's. Seo Taiji also recently made headlines when a stalker broke into the home he shares with his wife, actress Lee Eun Sung. The couple decided not to press charges against the fan, who had been Seo Taiji's fan for the past ten years.

Both incidents raise concerns about when fans are unable to draw the line between idol's careers and their personal lives once they've started families.

Hopefully, Lee Hyori's message will have an impact on the tourists, and her family will be able to enjoy their home.
