Aaron Hernandez Murder Case Trial [UPDATE]: Weapon Crucial In Getting Guilty Verdict; Prosecutors Yet To Produce Evidence Against Ex New England Patriots Athlete

Aaron Hernandez murder case trial will hinge upon whether or not the murder weapon will be found, as the prosecutors have yet to produce evidence against the former New England Patriots' tight end.

According to CNN, the material evidence in the Aaron Hernandez murder case trial is still missing.

Michael McCann, an attorney and sports analyst, told CNN that not finding the murder weapon is "a hurdle" that the prosecutors will have to overcome in Aaron Hernandez's murder case trial.

"To be sure, someone can be convicted without a murder weapon, we know that. But it's harder," he said.

The website said that police have turned Aaron Hernandez's house, car, apartment, the crime scene, woods, the lake in Bristol-the athlete's hometown-and the houses of his relatives, and still no murder weapon was found to provide a solid evidence in Aaron Hernandez's murder case trial.

However, prosecutors pointed out to the CCTV footage taken from Aaron Hernandez's house in North Attleborough on the night Odin Lloyd was killed. The footage showed that the athlete had a gun on his hand.

"He's last seen with the firearm before he goes down to the basement door," said Bristol County District Attorney William McCauley on June 16.

The police also suspected that Aaron Hernandez sent her girlfriend, Shayanna Jenkins, a "coded message" to remove a box from their basement and possibly get rid of it.

Shayanna Jenkins, who shared Aaron Hernandez's North Attleborough's home, was also cited for perjury after prosecution accused her of lying under oath.

Jenkins, who has a one-year-old daughter with Hernandez, remains "free on personal recognizance" after pleading not guilty to one count of perjury before the grand jury. Prosecutors accused Jenkins of deliberately providing false testimonies despite being under oath.

One of the contentious issues, according to CBS News, was that Jenkins reportedly lied about throwing away a box from the basement of their home in compliance with Hernandez' request.
