Upcoming Nokia Phones 2014: Lumia 530 Spotted In The Wild, Would It Replicate Success Of Lumia 520?

One of the upcoming Nokia phones for 2014 has one main goal - get close if not replicate the success of its predecessor.

That phone is the Nokia Lumia 530, which follows the footsteps of the best-selling Nokia Lumia phone in history - the Lumia 520.

While both Nokia and Microsoft have not made any clarifications or confirmations about the phone, the phone has reportedly been leaked in Chinese social media.

According to a report by GSM Arena, the upcoming Windows Phone powered device is rumored to pack a 4.3-inch display with an unknown resolution, probably qHD (960 x 540) to improve on the Lumia 520's WVGA (840 x 400) resolution.

Other alleged specs include a Snapdragon 200 chipset, a rather uninspiring 512MB of RAM and likely Windows Phone 8.1 OS.

While the screen improvement of 0.3 inches is notable, as well as the possible improvement in resolution, the RAM should get at least 1GB of memory as we are already in 2014. While WP users can argue that 512MB still runs smooth in Windows Phone, of course it still limits the device in other areas apart from home transitions and animations.

The Lumia 530 is not announced yet, but we are getting a possible price tag of anywhere within the $179 range. It may not be that low compared to the ultra affordable Motorola Moto G, but compared to its successor, the Moto G 4G, the Nokia phone's price is definitely better.

For the past few months, Nokia has been focusing its market on the entry-level to midrange market and we cannot complain as these are the markets wherein the Finnish maker excels. The Lumia 520 became the most sold Windows Phone in EU and other parts of Asia mainly because of its decent specs and affordable price tag.

Once Microsoft finally 'absorbs' the Nokia brand, we hope it wouldn't abandon this particular market group.
