Fargo Season 2 Cast: We Won’t See Allison Tolman in Fargo Season 2, But If You Were Paying Attention, You Know She’s Connected

Fargo Season 2 cast won't include Allison Tolman, the intrepid cop who had it all figured out on that white board. But if you paid attention to the clues that Keith Carradine, who played her father, an ex-cop who ran the neighborhood diner, dropped during the season, you know her character isn't that far off.

FX's Fargo will head back in time for season 2. Noah Hawley said the next season will be set in Sioux Falls and Luverne, Minn.

Lou Solverson (Keith Carradine) kept referring to a really bad case that left a lot of corpses that happened back in 1979.

On Monday, Fargo creator Noah Hawley told the Television Critics Association "If you were paying attention to Season 1, we made a lot of reference to Sioux Falls, [South Dakota]. That was not an accident. It will take place in 1979 and take place around ... Luverne, Minnesota and Fargo and Sioux Falls."

Hawley told the New York Daily News "the time period was really interesting in American history. I mean, post-Vietnam, post-Watergate, just before Ronald Regan became president... There was that sense, I think, that this war had come home with people, and the sort of violence and brutality of it. So the idea that perhaps Lou Solverson went to Vietnam and he fought and he came home, and he thought that he had left the war behind, but now he's come back and here it is. It's domestic now."

"It is a crime and a tragedy" that there will be no Alison Tolman in Season 2 said executive producer Noah Hawley.

The second season will focus on a 33-year-old version of Lou Solverson and his daughter Molly, who was four at the time. Solverson just got back from Vietnam and is working as a state police officer. The season will show how he met his wife, Betsy, who was dead by the time Fargo's first season was set. Will we see how she died? The season will also introduce Lou's father-in-law, the local sheriff.

"Fargo" was based on the 1996 movie of the same name by the Coen brothers. It is slated to return to FX in fall 2015. Fargo season 2 will have 10 episodes.
