"Son of Anarchy" season 7 cast Charlie Hunnam is excited with the "Fifty Shades of Grey" release as he expressed his regret once more over having to pass up the chance to play Christian Grey.

"I'm just really excited to see it," said "Sons of Anarchy" season 7 cast Charlie Hunnam during the Fox TCA press tour on Monday. " I was just really, really invested and wanted to work with (director) Sam (Taylor-Johnson) and play that character. I'm really, really curious (how it turns out)."

The 34-year-old actor turned down the role because of scheduling conflicts and was eventually replaced by Jamie Dornan. However, speculations claim that he left because he was concerned about all the nude and sex scenes.

"The CliffsNotes were exactly what we said. I couldn't do it because of (the) schedule. It was as simple as that," he explained.

Meanwhile, "Sons of Anarchy" season 7 cast Charlie Hunnam lashed out at critics who called E.L. James novels as pornographic.

"I think people really do that book a disservice when they reduce it to that type of talk. What (E.L. James) actually created is a really sophisticated dynamic and presented it in a package which was accessible to people who normally would be terrified of that subject," he said.

"Actually what she did was pretty brilliant," the British actor added.

Earlier, "Sons of Anarchy" cast Charlie Hunnam told Life&Style magazine that he regretted dumping the lead role for "Fifty Shades of Grey."

"I felt like I had an interesting take on that character and felt like I could have done a better job of playing Christian Grey, otherwise I wouldn't have taken it on in the first place," he told the magazine.

He said that it's "heartbreaking" to say goodbye to the role of Christian Grey when "you put the time into something like that and a character comes alive in your mind."
