Sigourney Weaver Reprises ‘Alien’ Role; Video Game Gig Paves Way For Movie Reunion?

Sigourney Weaver is reprising her "Alien" role as she portrays Ellen Ripley for the video game "Alien: Isolation." Will the video game pave the way for movie reunion?

The Khaleej Times reported that Sigourney Weaver is taking on the "Alien" role once again, which the award-winning actress described as "eerie."

"Honestly. I had to start with this sort of sign-off, 'This is Lieutenant Ripley of the starship Nostromo.' You know, that paragraph. I felt like no time had passed. It was really strange, actually. If anything, it was more affecting to me to read it again 35 years later," she said.

According to the publication "Alien: Isolation" has a bonus Crew Expendable and Last Survivor levels which allow players to take on the characters of Ellen Ripley and other Nostromo crew such as Dallas or Parker.

The video game will take place 15 years after the events on the movie. This time, Ellen Ripley's daughter Amanda is all grown up and she embarks on a journey to solve the mysterious disappearance of her mother.

Meanwhile, Sigourney Weaver talked reprising her "Alien" role in the movie, in an interview posted on the "Prometheus 2" website.

"Had we done a fifth one, I don't doubt that her humanity would have prevailed, I do feel like there is more story to tell," she said. "I feel it should take place in the far reaches of the universe where no one in their right mind would go. There are very few filmmakers that I can think of that I would want to entrust this to."

She said that fans are eager to for a conclusion and, "I can imagine a situation where we could at least finish telling her story. I think that would be very satisfying, at least to me. So we'll just have to see what happens."
