WATCH: ‘Dear White People’ Full Trailer Released: A Satirical Perspective On Black And White In America

The official, full-length trailer for Justin Simien's award-winning 'Dear White People' has finally arrived. Hitting theatres on October 14 2014, the film has already won over critics and audiences alike at festivals around the world with its witty take on modern race relations. The first-time writer/director Justin Simien won the Special Jury Award for Breakthrough Talent at this year's prestigious Sundance Film Festival for creating a film which touts itself as being "a satire about being a black face in a white place."

The groundbreaking film "follows its cast of students around the fictional, predominantly white Winchester College - microaggressions and all," according to MTV News.

Tessa Thompson takes the roll as protagonist Samantha White, a college radio host who uses her broadcast platform to lecture fellow white students at the fictional Ivy League university about how to interact with black people.

"Dear white people," she announces in the trailer, "the minimum requirement of black friends needed to not seem racist has just been raised to two. Sorry, but you're weed man, Tyrone, does not count." The blunt hilarity doesn't stop there. "Dear white people, please stop touching my hair." she continues. "Does this look like a petting zoo to you?" And finally she quips, "This just in: Dating a black person to piss off your parents is a form of racism."

Even from these basic excerpts, the film appears to tackle modern race relations in a funny yet honest way. The movie explores political and social issues with a smart comedic point-of-view, making the movie both thought-provoking and laugh-inducing. Nonetheless, though the clips are very entertaining, the trailer does not reveal much about the plot.

First Showing reports that "the film follows the stories of four black students at an Ivy League college where a riot breaks out over a popular 'African American' themed party thrown by white students. With tongue planted firmly in cheek, the film will explore racial identity in 'post-racial' America while weaving a universal story of forging one's unique path in the world". Besides protagonist Tessa Thompson, the film also stars Tyler James Williams, Teyonha Parris, Brandon P. Bell and Dennis Haysbert.
