'The Walking Dead' Season 5 Trailer Released At Comic Con, Watch Here: Release Date And Spoilers, Gang Heads To Washington DC [PHOTO]

"The Walking Dead" is heading to Washington D.C. for Season 5 to find a cure for the zombie apocalypse. That was made very clear by an intense 5-minute sneak peek that Comic-Con fans saw today in the massive Hall H

"This is a season that is going to be pretty close to the comics," said Robert Kirkman. The comic co-creator and series executive producer's point was emphasized by fellow EP Gale Anne Hurd, who hinted before the video was shown at some suburban locations, and "you'll see us take some big leaps with the characters and the set pieces." AMC announced the new season debuts October 12 at 9 PM.

"I remember a couple of scenes I would look over at what was going on in the scene and I would be like, 'What the eff? What are we doing? How is this legal?' It's grounded and real, too; it's not like torture or gore for no reason," Steven Yeun told E! News earlier this summer about the season-five premiere. "It's literally, that is what would happen and we are trying to show it. It would not work on network television, let me tell you that."

The second half of season four had the majority of the characters split up, but everybody is back together at Terminus. Well, everybody but Carol (Melissa McBride), Tyreese (Chad Coleman) and baby Judith. Those three are on the road together, and Beth (Emily Kinney) was last seen getting kidnapped (?) while on the road with Daryl (Norman Reedus).

In terms of new faces for season five, The Wire veteran Seth Gilliam will play Father Gabriel.

The Walking Dead season five kicks off Sunday, Oct. 12 at 9 p.m. om AMC.
