Duran Duran Lawsuit on Fan Club Doesn’t Mean They Don’t Love Their Fans, But Says The Duran Duran Fan Club Was `Hungry Like a Wolf’

Duran Duran filed a lawsuit on their own fan club. While the "Girls on Film" band says they love Duran Duran's "loyal" fanbase they think their Chicago-based company Worldwide Fan Clubs is getting "Notorious" for breach of contract.

According to Chicago Sun-Times, Duran Duran filed a lawsuit claiming breach of contract because the band wasn't paid promised revenue. Duran Duran signed a contract with Worldwide Fan Clubs, Inc. in 2010 that guaranteed the band 75 percent of all profits, while the suburban Chicago-based club could keep the rest. But the iconic 80s hitmakers say the club hasn't been paying the band their cut.

Duran Duran put a statement on their official web site readsing "Duran Duran value and respect their many fans around the world and feel compelled to correct the media's misrepresentation of its lawsuit against Worldwide Fan Clubs, Inc. The Band emphatically states that the lawsuit is not against its loyal fans but simply seeks to protect its rights against the company that formerly managed its fan club. Duran Duran have now brought their official fan community in-house and continue to make every effort to provide the highest level of service."

The Chicago Sun-Times reports the English rock band filed their suit in Cook County Circuit Court this week. The suit said WorldWide Fan Club, based in Glenview, Ill.,  had exclusive rights to provide fan club services, according to a contract signed in December 2010. WorldWide Fan Club was allowed to sell Duran Duran products, maintaining their membership records and collect dues from Duran Duran fans.

WorldWide Fan Club officials have not yet issued any comment.

Duran Duran are hard at work on new material that they are recording with John Frusciante, who used to shred his fingers with the Red Hot Chili Peppers.

In April the band posted a statement on their official website gushing "We are all such big fans of John's work and are honoured to have him adding his magic to the record. There are no current plans for John to tour with us, but his guitars sound incredible on the tracks."
