Singer Jung Joon Young To Be The MC For Mnet 'M! Countdown' L.A. Concert

Singer Jung Joon Young has been chosen to be the MC for Mnet's "M! Countdown" concert that will take place in the States.

The popular DJ will be hosting the show at the Los Angeles Memorial Sports Arena on August 9 and 10.

Jung will be juggling roles that day, as he's set to perform 5 of his hits while meeting with fans while he hosts the music program. Other K-pop stars including G-Dragon, VIXX, B1A4, CNBLUE and Girls' Generation will be attending the concert as well.

News of the TV entertainer's upcoming gig surfaces just as Jung releases his second mini-album titled "TEENAGER," which the singer has been promoting on music and television shows.

Jung Joon Young's popularity overseas has been expanding day by day and his agency announced that it would be focusing on promoting Jung around Asia for the second half of this year.

"TEENAGER" is conceptually based on the fictional Lost Boys adage of never wanting to grow up, according to the Korea Herald. Jung expresses his desire to recapture his youth in the form of rock and roll through his latest album.

"The songs embody the idea of an adult who continues to dream on; as children, we would dream about growing up and what things will be like when we are adults. I think even as adults, we have dreams that are always changing so I wanted to express the notion that we are always dreaming children at heart," explained the singer.

Jung continued, "When I was writing the new songs, I did not think about whether they would appeal to the masses. The thing is, popularity tends to go hand in hand with mainstream music. However, my musical background and colors are far from what you'd call mainstream music. . . Though some will like the new album and some will not, I'm really happy that I was able to do what I love."
