Group Boyfriend's Popularity In Japan Heats Up With New Album And Ranks High On Oricon Chart

Boyfriend has been getting the spotlight in Japan as of late.

The idol group released their second album in Japan, titled "Seventh Color," on July 23 and has since ranked No. 5 on the Oricon Music Chart.

The members of the K-pop group held a live mini-concert on July 26 and 27 as well as a "high-touch" event to celebrate the release of their recent album. The two recent events gained so much attention from Japanese media that news of the concert and fan meeting made it to the main page of Yahoo Japan.

Their agency, Starship Entertainment, reportedly stated that they were happy to see such successful results from the group's new album. As the new tracks gets even more popular, Boyfriend will continue to promote "Seventh Color" through a live house tour so that they can communicate and get closer to fans.

The "Boyfriend Love Communication 2014 - Seventh Color" first live house tour will begin on July 30 and continue on to August.

Before Boyfriend began making headlines in Japan, the band was dominating music charts in Korea with their recent release of  "Obsession" after a year and a half of taking a break.

The boys made their comeback showcase in Seoul in early June, according to the publication Yahoo Entertainment Malaysia.

Boyfriend is known in the K-pop industry for continuously breaking down barriers in the course of their career.

The members, Donghyun, Hyunseong, Jeongmin, Youngmin, Kwangmin and Minwoo, were the first K-pop idols to perform in Puerto Rico with their performance for 1,700 fans earlier this year.

Boyfriend also held a showcase in Chicago and Dallas, locations that aren't so commonly explored by K-pop artists, in March 2014 as well, according to the publication Allkpop. The group held a concert as well as an album-signing event and a "high-touch" event, according to Billboard.
