Shakira’s Activia ‘La La La’ Commercial Slams Competition! [VIDEO] Most Shared Of All Time, Thanks To ‘Empire’ Singer’s Massive Facebook Popularity

Shakira’s Activia yogurt commercial has shot past its competition to become the most shared commercial of all time!

The “Empire” singer’s “La La La” video, which was also a commercial for Activia yogurt, has been spreading virally over social media since it was released a couple of months ago. It has streaked ahead of car brand Volkswagen’s “The Force” ad, which according to the Wall Street Journal, had held the coveted position of most shared ad since February 2011.

“According to data from marketing technology firm Unruly, Activia’s “La La La” spot starring singer Shakira has been shared 5.375 million times across Facebook, Twitter and blogs in the two months since its launch,” said the Wall Street Journal.

It's a huge achievement for the Colombian singer, and an interesting fusion of music and advertising. The video was also associated with the World Food Program.

“The “La La La” video is an example of “trackvertising,” a growing trend in which a brand and musical artist co-release a video,” the Wall Street Journal quoted Unruly. “In the case of “La La La,” the spot serves as both a music video for Shakira’s World Cup anthem and an ad for the Danone yogurt brand.”

The huge success of the “Empire” singer’s commercial/video probably has a lot to do with her personal Facebook following. It was recently announced that the Colombian star has the most liked individual Facebook fan page of all time - she’s broken the 100 million likes mark. The only pages on the social networking website with more likes than Shakira are the fan pages for Facebook itself and its mobile app!
