K-Pop Crossover: Jackie Dee Of TLC's 'My Big Fat American Gypsy Wedding' On Her Love For Girl's Day [EXCLUSIVE]

Jackie Dee is on her way to becoming America's first Gypsy pop star.

Best known as the unmarried teen singer on the hit TLC reality show "My Big Fat American Gypsy Wedding," Dee brings a sense of fun to her music.

"Bling is my thing," proclaim the sassy singer's promos.

But the energetic 17-year-old did slow down long enough to talk to KpopStarz about her love for the South Korean group Girl's Day earlier this week, in an exclusive interview.

"They automatically grabbed my attention," Dee said of the four-member girl group. "They are amazing, but what got me was their style. It's so me and I relate to their musical style too, because they have fun with it."

Dee selected the Girl's Day track "Something" and the accompanying music video as her favorite moment for the band so far.

"'Something' is a great song," she said. "I love how they dress [in the video]. It reminds me of my style. They are beautiful and so talented, with beautiful voices. I would love to meet them one day."

Coming from the outside-looking-in culture of Gypsies, Dee has more than an affinity for K-pop. It's more of a passion. She loves watching Korean pop artists break in America and feels a kinship for the music, the energy and the vast array of styles the genre is known for.

"I love trying new things and switching it around," Dee said. "Plus I love the different music K-pop introduces people to. K-pop is the bomb!"

While she'd love to someday perform in Korea, Dee is quick to point out that her music veers in another direction.

"My music is very pop with a country twang," she explained. "It's very different from anything else out there right now. I am mixing modern country and pop with a throwback country twang like Loretta Lynn or Dolly Parton. But more pop."

Yet, Dee does feel like she has something to offer Hallyu fans.

"I think my songs could hook K-pop fans because they are fun and true in such an authentic way about who I really am," she said. "They really represent me."

The teen star hopes to represent both her own culture and her love for Korean culture in the American pop landscape.

"There are no gypsy [pop] singers out there and I want to be the first one to step up and show that there are more to gypsies than just looks or getting married at a young age," she said.

"I want to put my gypsy charm on the stage, along with my talent and love for K-pop," she said.
