‘Gone Girl’ Movie News: Author Gillian Flynn Gets Advise From Retired Detective; Cast Neil Patrick Harris Makes Profit From Home Sale

"Gone Girl" movie news finally reveal the face behind the retired detective who advised author Gillian Flynn on police maters. Meanwhile, cast Niel Patrick Harris makes handsome profit from a home sale.

The Burlington Free Press dished out "Gone Girl" movie news when it talked to Emmet Helrich, formerly of the Burlington Police Department, who gave tips to the author on investigation procedures while she was writing her book.

The retired detective admitted that he helped the author by providing her tips on interviewing a suspect or gathering facts during an investigation.

He also provided the right perspective when handling a violent crime, which is the hardest for the investigator to do as he has to go to the horrific crime scene.

"You go in there and it's a hard thing to just look at first of all, emotionally and psychologically," he said, adding that it's important to take away all the emotions and concentrate on the task at hand. "You've got to preserve evidence. You've got to save things. You have to call in all the right people. There's a thousand details that you have to take care of."

"Gone Girl" author Gillian Flynn thanked Emmet Helrich for his help and the retired detective is surprised by all the interest surrounding the book.

"It's a typical page turner and then I was amazed that everywhere I go, I walk around the city or you go down to the beach, everybody on the beach has got it, you know they've all got it under their arm," he said.

Meanwhile, in related "Gone Girl" movie news, cast Neil Patrick Harris reportedly made a profit when he sold his Sherman Oak home for $2.995 million after he bought the property four years ago for $2.1 million, according to Los Angeles Times.

Neil Patrick Harris plays Desi Collings, who was Rosamund Pike's character's ex boyfriend.
