Yenny's Solo Debut Is Featured On Billboard

Former Wonder Girls' member Yenny is making headlines with her solo debut.

U.S. Billboard published an article on July 30 spotlighting the former idol singer's solo venture into the K-pop world with her album "HA:TFELT."

Yenny, who has made her mark as a "top vocalist and songwriter" in the Korean music industry, has reinvented herself by combining the words "heartfelt" and "hot," according to a recently released teaser video.

"'HA:TFELT''s first single, 'Ain't Nobody' (which may or may not be slight jab at one of Wonder Girls' biggest hits 'Nobody,' which broke into the Hot 100), is an intense introduction to the new Yenny. The track opens with a simple piano and subtle percussion backing the singer's soft delivery," wrote the music magazine.

The media outlet continued, "But like a sonic shot of Everclear, the track's quiet tone bolts into a loud, hard-hitting dubstep chorus with screeching synths and wub-wubs featuring Yenny's voice jumping from chesty belts to fluttery high notes. But just like that, the fiery chorus glides into a brilliant trap breakdown with the rest of the track moving from section to section with different electronic embellishments."

Jeff Benjamin of Billboard praised the 25-year-old for taking risks with her music and her image. Yenny showcased her ability to go with the flow in terms of music with the release of "HA:TFELT."

The style of her music as well as the free-form choreography in her music video also shows how much she has grown as an artist.

Yenny's solo debut came around the same time as her former fellow Wonder Girls' band mate HyunA, who is dominating music charts with her single "Red."

Despite the similar timeframes in their solo debut and comeback, it seems that all the girls have is support for one another.

"Yenny unni listened to my song a while back, and we both liked each other's songs. It feels like we're the exact opposite. Because it's a song that I cannot do, I liked Yenny unni's music and [Yenny] unni also told me, 'If it comes out during summer, people will like it. It's refreshing.' I think it will be fun to promote together," stated HyunA, according to the publication Allkpop.
