Hilary Duff Reveals Why She Left The Music Biz: ‘Chasing The Sun’ Singer Needed To ‘Shut It All Down’, Talks Split With Husband Mike Comrie

Hilary Duff has revealed the split from her husband Mike Comrie has been "very difficult" in an interview for a Billboard podcast.

The celebrity duo split back in January this year after almost four years together, and they're frequently seen hanging out - from a trip to Coachella to shopping outings to a family vacation with their 2-year-old son Luca. Mike Comrie, Hilary Duff and Luca were spotted together just a few days ago on July 29 having a meal in Beverly Hills on the day "Chasing the Sun" was released!

But the time together hasn't eased all of the pain for the star.

"I'm separated from my husband right now, which has been a very difficult thing to go through, but we have a lot of love for each other and we have this beautiful baby," Hilary Duff said, according to E! Online.

The 26-year-old singer has said there is a song about her ex-husband Mike Comrie on her upcoming album, her first new studio album in seven years.

"[The song is about] my love for this person, that maybe we're not meant to be together, maybe we are. It's very, very personal," Hilary told E! Online at the iHeart Radio Music Awards back in May.

At the time, Hilary also spilled the beans on why she originally left the music biz.

"The thing for me was that I really toured for five years straight... and I don't think anyone gave me the credit as an artist," Hilary told E!Online. "After about five years, I was like, 'I have no life; I have like, two friends; I'm never home; I'm never with my family'. I kind of needed to shut it all down. It was time for me to be a person and learn who I wanted to be."
