Kristen Stewart and Nicholas Hoult appeared in Tokyo ahead of production on indie sci-fi drama "Equals," the Boston Herald reports.

"I can't stand him," Stewart joked, when asked about her feelings for her co-star.

"It's always a weird position to be put in any film where the director chooses two people and is saying 'Hey, potentially in this world I'm creating you two could fall in love,'" Hoult explained.

"Sometimes [this kind of situation] feels forced and tricky and awkward, but the kind of environment [director Drake Doremus] created was straight forward and easy. Kirsten is a great actress and that just makes it very relaxed and my job very easy," Hoult added.

However, no mention was made by either star of their sushi dinner date. A photo of Kristen and Nicholas having dinner together was spreading like wildfire by gossip sites, suggesting that the two "Equals" co-stars had been on a date.

Nicholas and his "Hunger Games: Mockingjay" actress ex girlfriend Jennifer Lawrence haven't been seen together since April, when they were spotted in London.

Did Kristen Stewart get between these "X-Men: Days of Future Past" co-stars and lead to their break up?

As we previously reported, even the "Equals" director couldn't ignore the sparks between Kristen and Nicholas.

"It became evident in my head that Nick and Kristen would have great chemistry," director Drake Doremus said.

"I can't believe I agreed to do it," Stewart previously told The Associated Press on Jan. 14, Us Weekly reports. "I'm terrified of it. Though it's a movie with a really basic concept, it's overtly ambitious."

"It's a love story of epic, epic, epic proportion," she added. "I'm scared."

Even from the beginning of the making of "Equals," Jen was nervous about her boyfriend working with Kristen Stewart, according to ShowbizSpy.com.

"This is making Jennifer uneasy, to say the least," a close source told the website.

"She doesn't want to think the worst of Kristen, but her reputation precedes her."

Many "Twilight" fans will remember the scandal when Kristen cheated on her long-time boyfriend and "Twilight" co-star Robert Pattinson with their married (and much older) director, Rupert Sanders.

"It all worked out a little too conveniently for Jennifer not to be suspicious. Considering Kristen's history with British men, she's the last person Jennifer wants to see kissing her boyfriend on the set.

"Although Jennifer is busy with her super-hot career, she's determined to make time to visit the 'Equals' set and keep a watch over Nick. She doesn't want to see her romance sabotaged."

Looks like it's too late for those visits.
