Windows 9 Release Date Could Introduce 'Free' Upgrade To Latest Windows Version?

Let's us all face it, almost every Windows user is looking forward to the Windows 9 release date. So right now, more than half of the world is still content with what Windows 7 does.

However, in a new report by BGR, it looks like Microsoft is planning to bring the upgrade to Windows 9 free for PC users.

Aside from the 'free upgrade', other offer options are also under consideration right now. But as far as Windows fans are concerned, not everything that is free is worth the try.

Certainly, if the Redmond giant offers the Windows 9 upgrade for free, a lot of PC users would use it right away. But that does not mean the same number of people would stay and continue using the version.

Even if Microsoft requires a very mininum amount or even a free upgrade for 'Threshold', if the OS still lacks the features that consumers need, it would still fail big time, just like Windows 8 and 8.1.

Still, there are reportedly a number of promising features which would be brought to Windows 9 when it becomes official next year. One of these changes include the return of the Start menu where there is an All Apps button which serves the same purpose as the 'All Programs' button in Windows 7,

Windows 8 was announced several years ago, and some people thought Microsoft would soon get it right as time goes on, translating to a higher adoption rate for the newer Windows version.

Unfortunately, Windows 8 was not able to make the breakthrough, and until now Windows 7 remains as the most-used Windows OS version around the world.

It just goes to show that while touch screen devices are already becoming very popular and industry-changing, most PC and laptop users still use the conventional mouse and keyboard pairing.

Meanwhile, an update for Windows 8.1 is expected to arrive on August 12, though details about the update have not yet been clear. However, a separate report from BGR says that the 'Patch Tuesday' update will bring more minor fixes than major changes.
