Benedict Cumberbatch Jar Jar Binks Voice Work In Preparation For Barbican Hamlet? ‘Sherlock’ Actor Keeps Donation Amount To LAMDA Secret

Benedict Cumberbatch Jar Jar Binks and Gollum voice work was so good that we have to wonder if he’ll use any of it for Barbican Theatre’s Hamlet this coming fall. Most likely not, but one can hope. While Benedict Cumberbatch was eager to show off his voice work chops, he wasn’t so eager to disclose the amount he donated to his alma mater LAMDA. Is ‘Sherlock’ actor secretly a cheapskate?

Watch Benedict Cumberbatch, Channing Tatum, Daniel Radcliffe, Nina Dobrev and more take a stab at impersonating the most memorable characters in film history:

Benedict Cumberbatch did Andy Serkis proud with that Gollum voice work. Channing Tatum wasn’t bad either, but no one can really compete with Benny’s limber lips and tongue!

‘Sherlock’ actor is game for any kind of dramatic display of his voice and acting skills, but he wasn’t so game to reveal the amount he donated to his alma mater LAMDA. He only revealed himself as the “Act Now! patron” when he spoke to LAMDA’s training.

“As a student, I learnt a lot under the outstanding training provided by LAMDA. Today it is poised to fulfil a long-held ambition to provide facilities to match.

“One of the capital’s leading and best-loved dramatic arts organisations will at last possess the space, facilities and physical presence it deserves.”

The Evening Standard reports that the donation will go towards building a 200-seat theater that will replace the 65-seat auditorium that the next generation of actors at LAMDA will use.

The new theater will be named after Simon Sainsbury, who donated £2 million to the Monument Trust.

Benny, whatcha doing holding onto your money? Give it back to the poor starving actors!

Benedict Cumberbatch has been super busy prepping for the upcoming show at Barbican Theatre. He is set to play the titular role in ‘Hamlet’, directed by Lyndsey Turner, who just won the prestigious Laurence Olivier Award for her work in ‘Chimerica’.

Barbican Theatre disappointed Benedict Cumberbatch fans by not including him in the new posters released to promote ‘Hamlet’. Instead, they went for a super-artsy rendition of the play, featuring all child actors to bring out somewhat petty nature of the fights that the story of ‘Hamlet’ tells.

‘Sherlock’ star is taking the gap between filming seasons for the all-time favored English show to do some work on stage and in Hollywood.
