Maria Sharapova Rogers Cup 2014 Update: Chooses Boyfriend Grigor Dimitrov As Potential Doubles Partner, Subtly Snubs Eugenie Bouchard, Cruises Past Garbine Muguruza

Maria Sharapova is now hogging the media’s attention at Rogers Cup 2014. With Eugenie Bouchard out of the way, the Roland Garros champion got extram time to speak about how she would pick her boyfriend Grigor Dimitrov as her doubles partner. Maria Sharapova also cruised past Garbine Muguruza, boosting her confidence. Nothing like a good win at Rogers Cup 2014 to get psyched for the tournament!

Maria Sharapova defeated Garbine Muguruza in a drama-free three setter, 4-6, 6-3, 6-1. She even had enough energy after the game to interact with her fans outside the stadium!

Recently Maria Sharapova has been putting extra care into making herself likeable again. After only getting 8% of the votes for the Online Tennis Club’s ‘Sexiest Female Tennis Player’ poll, the 27-year-old tennis player ramped up her game to get her popularity back.

For Online Tennis Club’s poll, Ana Ivanovic took the top prize with 36%, followed by Eugenie Bouchard, the Canadian darling, with 26%.

But with Eugenie Bouchard out of Rogers Cup 2014, Maria Sharapova felt safe enough to give the 20-year-old some good feedback.

"[Eugenie Bouchard]’s been so incredibly successful at the grand slams this year,” Maria Sharapova said, “It's been a quick transition for her from the juniors to the pros. It's always a difficult one and she's made that successfully.”

The Roland Garros champion also took part in the WTA's All-Access Hour to appeal to the tennis fans. She even gave a thought to the possibility of playing mixed doubles with her boyfriend Grigor Dimitrov, which she always hushed away.

"I would probably not play a Grand Slam mixed doubles, even though he wants to," she said. "But we'd have fun. We do in practice occasionally. But he's much better and I don't want to make myself look bad."

Ooh, putting your boyfriend in front of you? That could be a slippery slope, Maria.

Grigor Dimitrov, 23, also cruised into the next round of Rogers Cup 2014 by defeating the American player Donald Young 4-6, 6-2, 6-3.
