‘Pacific Rim 2’ Director Guillermo Del Torro Prefers Mako Mori Over Charlie Hunnam’s Raleigh? Calls Virtual Reality Game Oculus Rift His ‘Baby’

"Pacific Rim 2" director Guillermo del Toro has revealed his favorite character in the film and it's not Charlie Hunnam's Raleigh. Meanwhile, he described his virtual reality game Oculus Rift his baby and hoped that it's going to be made into a video game.

"To me, my favorite character in many ways is Mako Mori in 'Pacific Rim.' I just love it. It's an experience that you can't get any other way," he told Hero Complex of the LA Times.

In the film, Mako Mori was played by Rinko Kikuchi, the co-pilot of Charlie Hunnam's Raleigh in the Gipsy Danger.

Meanwhile, "Pacific Rim 2" director Guillermo del Toro told GameRant that he has been there from the start to develop the virtual reality game Oculus Rift, which allows players to become rangers inside the Gipsy Danger.

"I have not only tried it, but... I'm not only a club client, but I'm also the president (laughs). The two attractions were designed under my supervision. This is my baby more, but the Oculus was something that I saw from the design, the storyboarding, the sound design, the beta version all the way to what you see," he told Rob Keyes.

He said that a video game of the Oculus Rift is "something that I would full and wholeheartedly support."

Earlier, "Pacific Rim 2" director Guillermo del Torro told the Hero Complex that they would likely have a draft screen play in three weeks, in time for the showing of the film in January or February 2017.

He said designing the first movie took them about nine months, so it's to be expected that it will take "nine months or more" to design the second one. "We start scouting for the movie in the summer next year, July, and then we start shooting in November," he said.

Meanwhile, director Guillermo Del Torro revaled more "Pacific Rim 2" spoilers when he said the lead characters of "Pacific Rim 2" will be on a "completely different journey this time." He said they are scouting for more locations, for the night battles and the daylight battles, in their effort to expand the mythology of the Anteverse so fans won't feel that they are seeing the same movie.
