Queen And Adam Lambert Tour 2014: ‘American Idol' Alum Praises Freddie Mercury; Band Working On New Album With Dead Lead Vocalist?

Queen and Adam Lambert tour continues to amaze fans but the "American Idol" alum took time off to sit down for an interview with the New Zealand Sunday Star Times where he's all praises for Freddie Mercury. The band, meanwhile, is reportedly working on a new album featuring the late great rock icon.

In the interview at the sidelines of the Queen and Adam Lambert Tour, the gay singer with a killer voice admitted that he could never be Freddie Mercury.

"I was extremely apprehensive the first few times I fronted this band, because I was so intimidated by their legacy. Freddie Mercury was such an iconic vocalist, a once in a lifetime star, and their songs are fabulous," he said.

"Plus you've got Brian [May] on guitar and Roger [Taylor] on drums, who are such great players. But they made me feel comfortable, and we have fun. Playing with these guys is an amazing adventure," he added.

The "American Idol" runner-up said that performing with Queen has made him a bettre artist and also made him consider what he wanted to be known for.

Meanwhile, MusicTimes reported that apart from the Queen and Adam Lambert tour, a new Queen album is in the works which would feature Freddie Mercury, guitarist Brian May confirmed to BBC in May.

Last month, William Orbit, the producer for Britney Spears and Madonna, also admitted that he's working on a single for Freddie Mercury that would be part of the new album, "which is tentatively titled Queen Forever."

Then last week, Orbit took to Twitter to put classic rock fans on the edges of their seats.

On July 30 William Orbit posted on Twitter, which further confirmed the news: "Am definitely working with QUEEN. Amazing songs. That's all I'm sayin 4 now. Watch this space."
