Mars Volta Reunion 2014 Is Happening! Well, sort of. Two founding members of the band Cedric Bixler-Zavala and Omar Rodríguez-López are back together making music but with a different name and band.

The two created a band named Antemasque together with Mars Volta tour drummer Dave Elitch and Red Hot Chili Peppers bassist Flea.

These members all played for Mars Volta making this group a mini reunion for the band but labeled with a different band name.

Flea played bass for the band in 2002 for their studio sessions for De-Loused in the Comatorium. While drummer Dave Elitch toured with the band 2001-02.

Meanwhile, a mini Antemasque tour is happening and the band has already two sold out shows for August 12 and 13 in the Great American Music Hall in San Francisco and The Roxy Theatre in West Hollywood, CA, respectively. Antemasque is also scheduled to play in Sumer Sonic in Tokyo, Japan this August 16.
