Teen Choice Awards 2014 Flames Backlash For Rigged Results; Nominee Matt Espinosa Claims Winners Were Picked Days Before Voting Ended

Fans are accusing Fox TV's Teen Choice Awards 2014 of cheating following its allegedly rigged selection of the winners. As per netizens, the event should actually be named "Teens Have No Choice Awards" following the exposé of Matt Espinosa and Cameron Dallas.

Over 164 million Teen Choice Awards 2014 votes have been casted but none of them allegedly mattered for the producers picked the winners days before the voting actually ended.

However, one disclaimer from the event's website hints that the producers really have a say when it comes to selection of winners: "Winners for the Teen Choice Awards are determined using the votes cast on the site. Votes are tabulated electronically and winners [are] determined based on the nominees in each category with the highest number of eligible votes. Teenasaurus Rox reserves the right to choose the winners from the top four vote generators."

Choice Viner winner Cameron Dallas revealed what took place through a Twitter post: "It's funny how they told me I won the viner award 6 days before the voting ended and made the runner up still [tweet to vote] for them."

Dallas, however, immediately removed the post but fans were quick enough to take its screen grabs. Choice Web Star nominee Matt Espinosa echoed the sentiments of Dallas.

"Basically they picked the people almost 6 days before voting was done and used all of us for promotion," he wrote on Twitter.

"Don't worry guys, there will be other award shows where your hard work on voting will count. Once again, thank you for everything," he added. Like Dallas, he deleted his tweets afterwards.

The backlash eventually led to the hashtag #TeensHaveNoChoiceAwards.

Carter Reynolds, another Vine star, also gave his two cents using the hashtag: "#TCAS2014 used all of us for promotion. What a joke."

Fox TV and Teenasaurus Rox are yet to comment about the issue.
