Kylie Minogue Invited to Neighbors 30th Anniversary Show; The Voice Coach's Wedding Still Tops Australian TV Memories

Kylie Minogue returning to the TV show Neighbours. Australian soap Neighbours is turning 30 in March next year. The petite songstress is invited to join the party
A Network Ten spokeswoman told AAP "We have an open invitation for Kylie Minogue to return to Neighbours but at this stage the reports are only speculation. It goes without saying we would be thrilled for Kylie to reprise her role as Charlene for the 30th anniversary."


Anne Charleston, who co-starred on the show, confirmed that former The Voice coach Kylie Minogue will return to Neighbours for the show's 30th anniversary special. Charlston played soap matriarch Madge Bishop. Kylie  Minogue starred as tomboy mechanic Charlene Robinson on Neighbours 1986 through to 1988. The soap opera broke audience records during the time Minogue starred. Minogue's on-screen wedding to Scott Robinson, played by Jason Donovan, in 1987 is called one of the most memorable weddings on Australian TV.


The "Come Into My World" singer has been dropping hints that her character Charlene might appear for the soap's 30th anniversary next year.


Co-star Anne Charleston told Britain's The Mirror "'The Neighbours' 30th anniversary special is coming up. I think it will probably go to air in March. I think Kylie is on board for the special and I imagine everyone will be in on it because it's a big occasion. ... I look on those days with fondness and there is no way in hell I'd walk away from the special because it's a celebration and I think we should all be involved in it.


Last week, Kylie Minogue single performed seven songs in a peacock headdress in front of naked dancing men and one costume change. Minogue performed for a half hour at Glasgow's Hampden Park in front of an audience of 40,000 screaming fans. The next Commonwealth Games will be hosted by Australia in 2018 Games.
According to Amazon, Kylie Minogue's album sales spiked in the first 24 hours after the performance. Kylie's "The Best of Kylie Minogue," "Fever," and "Kiss Me Once" were the biggest sellers. The Best of Kylie Minogue went up 1,140%, "Fever" rose 800%, and "Kiss Me Once" puckered up 669%.


Album sales of Our Town by Deacon Blue, a Scottish pop band, rose 753% after they performed. Beautiful, an album by new Australian pop singer Jessica Mauboy jumped 2,800%.


Kylie played "Love at First Sight," "All The Lovers," "The Locomotion," "Can't Get You Out of My Head," "Spinning Around," "Into The Blue," "Step Back In Time and "Beautiful."
