Shinee's Taemin's new music video "Danger" has fans making comparisons to veteran pop stars like K-Pop's own Jaejoong of JYJ and the "King of Pop" himself, Michael Jackson. 

While fans will still have three more days to wait for the mini album debut of Shinee's Taemin, the music video for "Danger" was released this afternoon in the U.S. SM Entertainment followed their normal pattern of creating buzz for an artist's new release by teasing fans with promotional photos, teaser videos, and even an album medley. The reactions by fans across social media have been largely positive. Both Taemints and Shawols seem to be showing their support for Shinee's youngest member. Interestingly, some fans have noticed similarities between Taemin's promotional photos and a certain former SM artist, Jaejoong of JYJ, and also the infinitely talented, Michael Jackson. 

According to one online fan forum, Taemin's transformation over his career at SM has become visually very similar to Jaejoong (OneHallyu). The forum post displays photos that indicate paler skin over time, and also style that plays up contrast with that pale skin such as dark nails and dark makeup. Moreover, allegedly fans have also begun to compare Taemin's singing style to that of Jaejoong. This is largely a compliment to Taemin considering how much Jaejoong has been praised for his voice over the years. One final small similarity is simply that Taemin (particularly after Shinee's Sherlock mini album release), has seemingly been sporting more shirtless looks than that of the other members of Shinee. This was also apparently true of Jaejoong's solo debut from JYJ. If the music video is any evidence, Taemin has shed his pure and innocent image for an edgier and darker image.

Aside from the comparison to Jaejoong, the clear influence in both the style of the song and the style of dance is one that resembles Michael Jackson. Taemin's enthusiasm for Michael Jackson has been demonstrated on many occasions, including an interview with Kool Magz where he stated, "Watching Michael Jackson videos and other sunbae performers," influenced his desire to become a singer. Taemin also has a plethora of Michael Jackson dance tributes available to view on Youtube. Based on this, it's no surprise that Taemin's debut solo music video would include dance sequences of him wearing a pinstripe suit with a white bandage over one thigh, reminiscent of Michael Jackson's "Smooth Criminal" music video.

Although Shinee fans will have to wait until 2015 before they can expect a group comeback, they can be comforted by what is already promising to be an exciting solo debut from Taemin. If the influences of Jaejoong of JYJ and Michael Jackson can predict anything about Taemin's solo career, it shall be one of definite success.
