Jabberwocky Festival Cancelled At Last Minute Amidst Low Ticket Sales; Lawsuits and Accusations Follow Jabberwocky Festival Cancellation

Jabberwocky Festival was cancelled at the last minute because of low ticket sales and things are getting ugly. The Jabberwocky Festival was slated to take place this weekend in London. It is considered to be one of the most exciting music festivals that the British city has seen for years. Jabberwocky was going to be a two-day party headlined by Mercury prizewinner James Blake and indie legends Neutral Milk Hotel.

The Jabberwocky Festival lineup included Neutral Milk Hotel, Liars, Panda Bear, Cloud Nothings, Kurt Vile and the Violators, Caribou, Deafheaven, James Blake, Darkside, Sun Kil Moon, Thee Oh Sees, Perfect Pussy, Mutual Benefit, Ought, Ben Frost, Forest Swords, Yamantaka // Sonic Titan, Kode9, Earth, Pissed Jeans, Connan Mockasin, the Ex, Speedy Ortiz, Iceage, Vatican Shadow, Joanna Gruesome, Metz, Jesu, the Bug, Amen Dunes, Josef Van Wissem, the Van Pelt, patten, Oso Leone, Joana Serrat, Paus, I Break Horses, Chelsea Wolfe, Hookworms, Electric Wizard, Eaux, Untold, clipping., Big Ups, Mick Turner, Nils Frahm, Younghusband, and the Growlers.

The festival was going to be co-presented by Pitchfork and Primavera Sound.

ATP, who was running the Jabberwocky festival, has borne the brunt of most of the criticism. The promotional company was moved to hit back, saying "There have been many accusations thrown at ATP, some so vindictive that we feel it necessary to defend our position."

Jabberwocky ticket company and PR firm Dash Tickets is taking legal action. Dash Tickets claim they gave all the money they received in sales back to ATP. They accused ATP of "misleading" fans about refunds.

ATP issued a statement confirmed that the Jabberwocky Festivalwas cancelled due to poor ticket sales.

ATP's The full statement reads:

It is with deep sadness we regret to inform everyone that as of today Tuesday 12th August 2014, ATP is being forced into cancelling this weekend's Jabberwocky festival. Refunds will be available to all customers at the point of purchase.

We have put everything into promoting Jabberwocky, and despite healthy ticket sales; all our efforts could not take those sales to the point that we needed to finally stage the event. Over the past month and all the way up until this moment we have tried every possible course of action to follow through in delivering Jabberwocky to you, but the position we unfortunately find ourselves in as a result of a succession of events that have lost money in an increasingly aggressive festival market, means we are no longer able to do so.

In the past ATP has weathered losses such as this and gone on with the show, taking huge direct financial blows as an independent company. But on this occasion, with an event of this scale and the high production costs that come with it - if we had gone ahead; it would have 100% been the end of ATP. We do not take this decision lightly and it was the hardest we've ever had to make. All other ATP Presents shows will go ahead as planned, including ATP Iceland with our local partners there in 2015.

We apologise to all the people we have let down from fans to the bands, the venue and all the suppliers. We have tried everything in our power to save this event and continue, but the losses we have recently incurred have unfortunately been too much for a company of our size to bear.
