Beyonce and Jay Z just released a teaser video for their upcoming  'On The Run' HBO special, and it's sure to have people talking. In it, Beyonce serenades Jay Z with a cover of Cher's 'Bang Bang (My Baby Shot Me Down)', channeling Nancy Sinatra’s jazzy rendition of the song. Could this performance of the agsty song about heart break and betrayal indicate that the couple could in fact be headed for divorce?

Talk of marital trouble between the Hip Hop power couple reached a fever pitch earlier this Summer, after the infamous “elevator incident” in which Solange Knowles was filmed attacking Jay Z in an elevator at Anna Wintour’s annual Met Gala. Rumors at the time ranged from speculation that Jay Z was having an affair with designer Rachel Roy to claims that the Beyonce’s sister was having her own lover’s quarrel with the rapper. Though the three released a statement insisting that everything was okay, and that “we’ve put this matter behind us,” rumors of impending divorce between Beyonce and Jay Z have persisted ever since.  

 The couple has remained characteristically tight lipped about the state of their marriage, going forward with their ‘On The Run’ tour as planned. The teaser video, in which Jay Z is filmed smoking a cigar, as Beyonce performs the ‘Bang Bang’ interlude, is the first potential confirmation from the couple that their marriage is in trouble. There has been some talk that the couple will announce plans to split on stage, at this Sunday’s VMA awards on MTV.

The ‘On The Run’ tour is the latest in a long line of projects the couple has worked on with HBO. Beyonce previous ‘Mrs. Carter Show’ tour also aired as an HBO special, as did her Life Is But A Dream documentary. Jay Z aired his Picasso Baby: A Performance Art Film on the network last Summer. Their ‘On The Run’ special will be filmed on September 12 and 13, as the couple performs the concert in Paris. No word yet on when it will air.
