More Excitement For VIPs As BIGBANG Celebrates Their 8th Anniversary And G-Dragon Wins ‘World Music Awards’ For ‘Best Entertainer’ and ‘Best Album’

VIPs might be the most excited K-pop fan group this week. Today marks BIGBANG's 8th Anniversary since their debut and their leader G-dragon has also won World Music Awards for "Best Entertainer" and "Best Album."

Since their debut at the YG Family concert in 2006, BIGBANG has impressed and stolen the hearts of fans across the globe. VIPs celebrated the event by showing their support across Facebook and Twitter with #Happy8thAnniversary.

On the heels of G-dragon's announcement of working toward a comeback before the end of 2014, VIPs have also shown their support for G-dragon by voting for him online to become the winner of two World Music Awards. He won "World's Best Album" for his second solo album, "Coup D'Etat" and also won "World's Best Entertainer." The awards show aired in the UK on August 15th.

If 8 years doesn't seem like a big deal, one need only remember the dreaded '5 Year Curse' that is rumored to plague any and all K-pop groups. The curse claims to prevent success of a K-pop group past 5 years after their debut. While the 5 year curse in K-pop has allegedly been broken by many groups in the past decade, VIPs were briefly worried about the future of their beloved group following three separate scandals involving Daesung, Seungri, and G-dragon a few years back. However, with the release of the group's latest album "Still Alive," it was clear BIGBANG was here to stay.

While buzz continues to generate for the K-pop kings of BIGBANG, fans can look forward to more activity from individual members. TOP's new film "Tazza 2" is due out this September and G-Dragon is set to appear alongside CL and Skrillex in a music video for their collaboration "Dirty Vibe." And hopefully there indeed will be a new BIGBANG album awaiting VIPs at the end of this year.
