Taylor Swift Going 80’s? T-Swizzle Announces ‘First Official Pop Album’ And Premieres ‘Shake It Off’ Single

It's been a big day for Miss Swift. The singer announced that her new album, entitled "1989" will be released on Oct. 27 and premiered the music video for its first single, "Shake It Off."

"I have three big surprises for you today," declared Swift as she addressed fans from the top of the Empire State Building in New York via Yahoo! Live Stream.

According to USA Today, Swift streamed her broadcast in front of a select group of fans as devotees around the world waited eagerly to finally hear news about the "I Knew You Were Trouble," singer's new music.

Swift didn't keep them waiting for long.

She soon revealed that her new album would be titled "1989."

"For the record, this is my very first documented pop album," insisted the star. Although many of Swift's chart-topping songs have been considered pop in the past, her new sound will allegedly mark a novel chapter in the songstress's career.

"The inspiration behind this record, I was listening to a lot of late 80's pop," said Swift, indicating the reasoning for the album's title. "I really loved the chances they were taking. I loved how bold it was. It was, apparently, a time of limitless potential."

ABC News reported on the album cover art, which Swift also revealed.  The photograph shows Swift wearing a sweatshirt with a flock of seagulls printed on the front.

"That photo you are seeing is a Polaroid we took," explained Swift. "We took the album photos on Polaroids... it was kind of an accident, so I figured why not make that photo the album cover?"

Of single "Shake It Off," Swift explains that the song is based on her personal experiences from the past two years.

"People can say whatever they want about us, at any time and we cannot control that," commented Swift. "The only thing we can control is our reaction to that."

The music video is directed by Mark Romanek who is known for filming Johnny Cash's "Hurt" and Michael and Janet Jackson's "Scream" videos. In it, Swift is shown struggling to blend in with a group of professional dancers.

Swift even used a handpicked collection of fans who can also be seen shaking a tail feather in the video.

"They have kept the secret that they were in the music video for two months," gushed Swift.

The former-country star also used the Yahoo! Live Stream to express what the album means to her on a personal level.

"The idea of endless possibility was kind of a theme in the last year of my life."
