Google Chromebook 11 Rival Already In The Works, Microsoft Teaming Up With HP To Bring Affordable Device To The Market

The Google Chromebook 11 netbook is an affordable gadget that will allow you to do some of the basic tasks without breaking the bank. Due to its initial success, a number of manufacturers have already used it and developed their own Chromebooks.

In an aim to finally offer a legitimate rival to the Google Chromebook. Microsoft is reportedly working on a Windows 8.1 laptop manufactured by HP.

According to the report by GSM Arena, the device will be named HP Stream 14 as shown in an alleged leaked image. In the report, the HP-manufactured notebook will pack a 14" display with a resolution of 1366 x 768 pixels and 200 nits of brightness.

While the device is not as portable as the Chromebook, the HP Stream will reportedly pack just enough power to get most people through their usual work day. As seen in the alleged render, the new HP notebook looks a lot thinner than most notebooks today.

The HP Stream 14 will reportedly get an AMD "Mullins" A4 Micro-6400T Quad-Core SoC, 2GB of RAM, and integrated Radeon R3 graphics for decent graphics performance.

As for storage options, the upcoming HP device is rumored to get 32GB and 64GB storage options, though Microsoft offers its 100GB cloud storage from OneDrive for the next two years. An SD card will also be on board for further memory expansion.

The HP Stream 14 notebook reportedly weighs 1.75kg while a 32Wh battery will power the device. For the stereo speakers, Beats Audio is said to power the software for a richer bass sound.

Unfortunately, there is still no word regarding the device's official announcement as well as its price tag. But considering that it would be a rival to the Chromebook, the upcoming notebook could get an affordable price of around $300 or even less.
