Shia LabBeouf Returns To Twitter: ‘Fury’ Actor Supports ALS Cure With Ice Bucket Challenge, First Tweet Since Crazy Broadway Debacle And Treatment for Alcohol Abuse

He's back. "Fury" actor Shia Labeouf has returned to Twitter for the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge after leaving the social media site while getting treatment for alcohol abuse.

The star, who shocked Broadway in June when he interrupted a performance of "Cabaret," has resurfaced on the web for the good cause.

Simple and dramatic are two words that could be used to describe Labeouf's ALS Challenge. In the video, the green tank top-clad actor stands in front of what appears to be a pool and talks to the camera in a serious tone before dumping the bucket of ice water over his head.

Labeouf proceeds to nominate performance artist Marina Abramović.

Abramović is known for art pieces like her exhibit "The Artist is Present," which appeared at the Modern Museum of Art in New York City and consisted of the performer sitting across from one museum patron at a time for hours on end. It should be interesting to see if Abramović adds her own spin to the worldwide sensation that the ALS fight for a cure has become.

As for LaBeouf, The Daily Mail reports that the actor is currently recovering from an alcohol addiction, which may be the reasoning behind some of the former-child star's eccentric behavior over the past year.

In June, LaBeouf attended a performance of the Broadway musical "Cabaret" and allegedly interrupted the show by yelling at the stage.

TMZ claimed that when LaBeouf was approached by theatre security guards, the actor screamed a series of profanities, including , "Do you know my life? Do you know who the f*** I am? Do you know who I am?"

LaBeouf was promptly arrested.

The actor, known for such film roles as "Transformers," "Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps," and "Nymphomaniac," took a break from Twitter in May, just before the Broadway incident.

Mirror.co.uk reports that LaBeouf is seeking help for his alcohol abuse issues. His publicist stated, ''Contrary to previous erroneous reports, Shia LaBeouf has not checked into a rehabilitation facility but he is voluntarily receiving treatment for alcohol addiction.

''He understands that these recent actions are a symptom of a larger health problem," the publicist added, "and he has taken the first of many necessary steps towards recovery.''

The actor's Twitter action sure makes it seem as if he's back on the right track.

LaBeouf will next hit the big screen with Brad Pitt and Logan Lerman in "Fury."
