Lead Up To The Seoul International Drama Awards 2014 Jam-Packed With Preliminary Events

On September 4, some of the world's biggest TV stars will hit Seoul to be honored at the 9th annual Seoul International Drama Awards.

The ceremony seeks to recognize outstanding achievements in the realm of television dramas, miniseries, and movies with submissions coming from all over the world.

The Seoul International Drama Awards 2014 is scheduled for Thursday, September 4 at the National Theater of Korea in Seoul and will include the announcement of the winners as well as several special live performances.

Leading up to the highly anticipated event will be three preliminary events to get fans psyched for the awards show - a TV Movie Premiere & Celeb Cinema showcase, a Drama Music Concert, and the Global Drama Forum.

Starting on September 1 and running until September 3, the TV Movie Premiere & Celeb Cinema event will take place at the CGV theater in Yeouido, South Korea. The program will premiere six of the 209 drama entries and represent some of the best television from around the world. The Walking Dead (USA), Sherlock (UK), Medcezir (Turkey), The Fat and the Angry (Sweden), as well as two entries from South Korea, An Affair and Good Doctor. Those interested in attending may sign up through the SDA website by August 26.

The Drama Music Concert will be held on September 3 at the COEX Auditorium in Seoul beginning at 8:30pm KST. The event is co-hosted by the Seoul Drama Awards Committee and BCWW and is organized by CBS. Performers include K-Pop group Ulala Session, Kim Seung Woo, and Park Wan Kyu, who will perform original drama soundtracks. Tickets for the concert are available by visiting the CBS website.

Before the main event hits the stage on September 4, a Global Drama Forum will be held from 10:30am to 11:40am KST in COEX Conference Room 307. The theme of the forum will be "International Scripted Formats in Television" and will address the meaning and implications of television including an in-depth discussion of how the Turkish drama Medcezir was adopted from the US teen drama The OC and the production direction of three Korean dramas including SDA nominee Good Doctor.

Marc Lorber (format consultant of Lionsgate and Fox), Donna Wiffen (senior drama consultant of Dutchess Street Productions), Ece Yörenç (Ay Yapim's writer who wrote 'Medcezir'), and Geon-sik Yu (Team Head of the KBS Drama Department) will participate as speakers of the forum. The event will be moderated by Michel Rodriguez, CEO of 'The Format People.'
