Billboard Is A Fan Of Boy Band WINNER?

WINNER is dominating the K-pop industry since its debut.

The five-member idol group was featured on an article on the Billboard website today after it topped the music outlet's World Albums chart and ranked in the top 10 on the Heatseekers Albums chart as well, according to the Korean publication Osen.

"After nearly 11 months of silence, WINNER went full-force with their debut dropping a full-length LP led by two singles and accompanying music videos," wrote Jeff Benjamin of the music magazine.

The K-pop columnist added, "The 2014 S/S album was a polished, eclectic 10-track set with melancholy, R&B/hip-hop hybrid singles "Empty" and "Color Ring" (see below). Last week, the LP made a strong Billboard debut, selling 1,000 copies and hitting No. 1 on the World Albums chart (this week it's at No. 11) and No. 6 on Heatseekers Albums, meaning a Billboard 200 debut wasn't far off."

WINNER has successfully made a name for themselves in the cutthroat Korean pop world by making whatever they release to the public their own.

"Since our debut, we were dubbed as 'the next boy group after Big Bang,' so we felt it was important to try our best to show that we are different. Whether it's fashion or style, we've been trying to be unique so we'll be recognized as WINNER," stated the boys of WINNER.

Through their debut album, WINNER has officially made "a declaration of war" on what their music will be like in the future, according to WINNER leader Kang Seung-yoon.

Whether it's pop ballad, hip-hop, folk or rock, WINNER can do it all, as seen from their latest album. For the members of WINNER, their music isn't just their ticket to fame.

"We want people to relate to our music, so they can be excited with upbeat songs or feel empathy through sad ones. We want our fans to relate to our songs, not only the melodies but the stories in them," explained Kang, according to the Korean Times.
