On September 3, news outlet YTN reported the tragic news that Ladies' Code member EunB had passed away from a motor vehicle accident at 1:20 a.m. EunB's Korean age was 22.
The accident occurred in rainy weather conditions. Photos from the accident were also released, providing context to the severity of damage which occurred to the van.
In a statement from Polaris Entertainment, reported by Enews "an issue occured with the car's back wheel coming off. The vehicle spun several times, hitting a guard rail."
The driver of the vehicle also passed away and other staff, as well as group members were injured.
“The Korea Times” has reported that members Ashley, Zuly, and two stylists obtained minor injuries in the accident. At the last news report, Ashley and Zuly were undergoing treatment for these injuries which did not necessitate surgery.
Ladies' Code members Sojung (Lee So Jung) and RiSe (Kwon Ri Se) required surgery, following severe injuries which occurred during the accident. Sojung and RiSe were treated at the Catholic University of Korea St. Vincent's Hospital. Sojung and RiSe remain in critical condition.
English-language media outlet Soompi reported a translated statement provided by Polaris Entertainment which provided details regarding the weather conditions which led to the accident, as well as the details regarding the surgery of Sojung and RiSe.
Representatives from Polaris Entertainment stated, “EunB passed away at the scene of the accident. Members RiSe and Sojung suffered serious injuries and a currently receiving surgery.”
Additional details regarding the accident continue to be released following the offiicial statement from Polaris Entertainment. Soompi also reported the health condition of Sojung appears to be stabilized, while the injuries sustained by RiSe are more severe.
Additional details suggest that RiSe sustained a traumatic brain injury during the accident. According to Soompi RiSe "was in the midst of a major procedure which had been on-going for seven hours since 2AM KST on September 3."
